Cast, crew members call it a wrap for spring play

Drama club members concluded this year’s spring play with a bang and have left their audiences hungry for more. Overall, the play went over well with viewers, even with a few minor glitches.

“Even when [junior] Emily Boegel lost her voice one night, she still went on and it ran smoothly,” said English teacher Brian Phelps, the play’s director.

Phelps developed some “secret rituals” for getting the cast pumped up.

“We circle up and the seniors offer their leadership by giving an inspirational ‘Go Team!’ speech,” he said.

The smaller cast definitely brought the group closer. Phelps felt that he could trust them to build their own characters.

“I really learned to be myself and to open up in front of people,” said junior Maxwell Singletary, a newcomer to high school dramatics.

Phelps was not nervous before the performances because the cast was well- rehearsed and professional.

“This is the most talented cast I’ve ever worked with,” he said.
